Payment Policy

This page explains the payment process, so you can see at a glance what is accepted, what is protected and what happens if something goes wrong.

Accepted payment methods

Four card networks are accepted, together with PayPal. Everything is processed through the same provider, so the security position below applies equally to each method.

Cash on delivery, bank transfer, cheque, cryptocurrency and payment on account are not accepted.

If you would prefer a method that is not listed, write to us before ordering and we will give a definite answer rather than leaving the attempt to fail at the payment step.

All five accepted methods are handled by the same processor, which is why the protection described later applies to each of them equally.

  • Visa — accepted, credit or debit.
  • Mastercard — accepted, credit or debit.
  • American Express and Discover — accepted.
  • PayPal — accepted, funded from balance or a linked card.
  • Cash on delivery, transfer, cheque, crypto, account terms — not accepted.

Cards and wallets

Card details are entered on the processor's hosted page and pass directly to it. PayPal works differently: you authorise the payment on PayPal's own site and return to us with a confirmation.

Card payments may be subject to 3-D Secure verification, and the site does not offer saved cards.

Because PayPal authorises on its own site, we never receive your PayPal password or the number of any card linked to that account.

The hosted payment page is served by the processor over its own secure connection, separate from the rest of the site.

  • Card details — entered on the processor's page, never on ours.
  • PayPal — authorised on PayPal's own site.
  • 3-D Secure — your bank may ask you to approve the payment.
  • Saved cards — not offered; each order is paid for separately.

Authorisation

The card is authorised when the order is placed, and a pending authorisation may appear on your statement straight away. That is a hold rather than a charge, and it is released if the order is cancelled before dispatch.

Where a bank refers a payment for a routine check, the order is held rather than cancelled and we contact you.

The amount confirmed at checkout is the amount charged, with sales tax calculated from the delivery address and included before confirmation.

We add no handling fee and no card surcharge, and any international transaction fee is set by your bank rather than by us.

  • Authorised — when the order is placed.
  • Pending hold on the statement — normal, and released if the order is cancelled.
  • Payment referred by the bank — order held, and you are contacted.
  • Payment declined — nothing charged; retry with another card or PayPal.

Security

Payments are processed by Stripe, certified to PCI-DSS Level 1. All traffic to the site is encrypted, and card data never reaches our servers or our logs.

No member of staff will ever ask for a full card number by email.

Access to order data is limited to the small team that packs and supports orders, each using an individual account rather than a shared credential.

Any message that appears to ask for card details should be treated as fraudulent and reported to us.

  • Processor — Stripe, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
  • Encryption — applied to all traffic in transit.
  • Card data stored by us — none.
  • Card number requested by email — never legitimate; report it to support@demisale.shop.

Declined payments

A decline usually means the issuing bank blocked the transaction, the billing address did not match its records, or the card limit was reached. Nothing is charged when a payment is declined.

A pending authorisation from a failed attempt is released by the bank, normally within a few working days, and that release cannot be expedited by us.

The most common cause is a mismatch between the billing address entered and the one the bank holds, and correcting it usually resolves the decline.

Where repeated declines occur on the same order, we contact you rather than allowing the order to sit unresolved.

  • Nothing charged — on any declined attempt.
  • Retry — immediately, with another card or PayPal.
  • Pending authorisation — released by the bank within a few working days.
  • Unexplained decline — email support@demisale.shop with the order reference.

Refunds

We issue the refund to the original payment method within seven calendar days of the returned item passing inspection. A card payment goes back to the same card and a PayPal payment to the same PayPal account.

Your bank then takes its own time to display the credit, commonly three to five working days.

Where the original card has since been closed, write to us once the bank confirms it and we will arrange an alternative.

If an order was paid partly with store credit, the refund is apportioned in the same proportions as the original payment.

  • Refund released — within seven calendar days of inspection.
  • Destination — original card or PayPal account only.
  • Cash refund — not possible.
  • Not appeared after ten working days — write in for the processor reference.

Card storage

We never hold a full card number, a security code or a PayPal password. What returns to us is the transaction result, the card brand and the last four digits.

That is enough to match a payment to an order and answer a query about which card was used, and nothing more.

Because we hold no card data, a breach of our own systems could not expose a card number.

The compliance obligation for storing and transmitting card data rests with the processor rather than with us.

  • Full card number held — no.
  • Security code held — no.
  • PayPal password held — no.
  • Visible to staff — card brand and last four digits only.

Payment help

Write to support@demisale.shop with the order reference and we will answer within one working day, Monday to Friday. Include the date and amount if you have them to hand.

A short email is usually resolved faster than a formal chargeback, and we would prefer to hear from you first.

Include the date and the amount where you have them, and describe what looks wrong, so the first reply can be a useful one.

If a dispute is already open with your bank, sending us the case reference means both enquiries can be answered from the same facts.

  • Unrecognised charge — contact your bank and us.
  • Dispute already open with the bank — send us the case reference.
  • Answer time — one working day, Monday to Friday.
  • Outcome — confirmed in writing.
